The program aims at helping the students to master the intellectual and scientific aspects of translation as a new field of study. It intends to prepare the graduates to become bilingual translators and interpreters to meet the needs of Oman society and the work market for such professionals. This complies well with the great role that Oman plays in the international relations and cultural interactions.

Students are expected to be able to:

Be aware of the duties that they must carry out in the process of development in Oman.
Be aware of the developments in the fields of linguistics and translation.
Show competence and ability to complete their higher education in well-reputed institutions.
Show great understanding of others who speak different languages to bridge the gaps and minimize the discrepancies with them.
Develop new cultural values and concepts to facilitate cross-cultural communication and mutual understanding globally.
Demonstrate informed awareness of the similarities and differences between the linguistic systems of Arabic and English.
