Mission

The mission of the Department of Business Administration and Accounting is to offer high quality academic programs which successfully prepare individuals for entry-level managerial position in public and private sectors. The goals that come out from this mission are:

  • To prepare graduates for various positions in business and industry
  • To recruit, retain and develop quality faculty
  • To provide quality instruction and curriculum to meet the demands of students for their chosen careers.

 

Accounting Program:

Objectives:

The Accounting Program is opened to provide graduates a formal qualification in accounting. The completion enables them to proceed to the CPA( Charted Public Accountant) or CA ( Chartered Accountant) programs which leads to full the opportunity to acquire a solid foundation in accounting, also preparation for careers in this field, consulting and general management.

1. To provide academic program in accounting and prepare students for profession in accounting career.

2. To conduct research in accounting and related areas for the advancement of the filed and it is profession practice.

3. To serve the community through the offerings of professional training programs to parishioners and others

4. To provide consultancy services to private and public organizations as well as other needed programs.

Bachelor in Accounting:

The number of credit hours required for obtaining the Bachelor in Accounting is 126 credit hours. The Accounting program will provide students with skills and knowledge appropriate for accounting professionals. It aims to teach students how to utilize their theoretical knowledge of accounting and apply it successfully and ethically in both business and public organizations.  It is designed so that student may complete the major portion of the training required by the various accounting associations.

Student Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the program of study, student should have a conceptual understanding of accounting and external financial reporting, managerial applications, tax planning and apply their conceptual understanding to both structured and unstructured problems. The student can recognize and analyze ethical problems in practical accounting situations, select and defend a course of action. And also the student effectively communicate complex accounting concepts both orally and in writing and apply critical thinking skills then analyzing and solving problems.

Job Opportunities:

The degree in accounting program has been carefully drawn to meet market demands qualitatively in particular in public and private sector. The many types and levels of accounting personnel found in the typical organization mean that there are broad opportunities awaiting those willing to expert in accounting discipline. The program ensures offering graduates who will be efficient and effective in performing business and achieving organization objectives. The holders of degree in accounting have been well received in Oman Job Market, as well as other Gulf countries for their outstanding performance in teamwork, creativity and administrative leadership skills.
