The Visit of the Delegation from California State University, Northridge, USA
to Al Buraimi College –
December 13, to December 19, 2008
The Chairman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, extended a warm welcome from Al Buraimi College to the American friends. A brief introduction was made by the Chairman to the members of the team about the college and its history. This was the team’s second visit from California State University – Northridge, since an agreement for academic collaboration with them was signed.
The purpose of their visit was to award certificates (Bachelor Degree, Diploma & Higher Diploma) during the convocation ceremony and also to review the curriculum, syllabi, textbooks, and courses offered at Al Buraimi College. Dr. Abdullah Alani, the Dean of the college, briefed about the programs offered and the facilities available in the college. The team communicated the necessary procedures to satisfy their academic requirements. They toured the campus, inspected its facilities, and convened with the heads of departments and instructors. The team consulted with the Department of Admissions and Registration and met with the technology staff. They reviewed human resources policies, as well as met with faculty for Student Career Services. They had an open meeting with the students of the college to understand their interest and other expectations. Two workshops were conducted for the faculty and staff for professional development. This was an excellent opportunity to work closely with them and draw from their experience and expertise to better the functioning of this institution. Al Buraimi College is sure to benefit from their contribution and strengthen the ties between the two universities.
