National Standards for Foundation year Program and Quality Assurance Standards for Educational Institutions Titles for Two Presentations in a Cultural Gathering in Al-Buraimi College

 

To raise the standards of performance of the academic and administrative cadres of Al-Buraimi College, a cultural gathering was set up in the College Campus on February, 26th 2007 to discuss the above titles. The first presentation focused on the national standards for Foundation Year Program. Mr. Mohammed Kalakh, HOD of English pointed out the important role of the FYP in building up the students’ they are academic bases as they supposed to acquire the essential academic and study skills and concepts that help them to move successfully in their academic program study. Towards National standards for Foundation Year Program has been a topic discussed in a symposium sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education, Sultan Qaboos University and Oman Accreditation Board. The importance of such a topic was highly stressed and all higher education institutions were invited to improve their foundation year program to comply with the national standards highlighted in the symposium.
      The second topic was presented by Dr. A.Hadi AL-Khasaweneh, a faculty in Business Administration Department. He pointed out that each educational instruction should adopt certain quality assurance standards that should comply with development dynamism clearly observed in all educational sectors in the Sultanate. They should also be in harmony with the work market requirements in the future stage, described as the real challenging stage for all educational institutions. This is due to the information and economic revolution all over the world as a result of the activation trade agreement (Globalization).
      At the end of the gathering, the Dean thanked all the participants stressing the importance of these academic and cultural activities.
