Educational Cultural and Artistic Evenings at AL-Buraimi College

 

     Al Buraimi College has organized a number of programs and activities in the second semesters. Over the past week, many educational and cultural activities have been witnessed, the most eminent of which was a cultural evening held on 26 / 2 / 2007 that included two lectures. The first lecture was presented by Mr. Mohammed Kalakh, Head of English Dept in which he showed the role of the Foundation Year Programs for university students and how they provide them with the essential and necessary concept and skills during the first stage of their university life (The Foundation Year). Meanwhile, he explained the purpose of the symposium held by the Ministry of Higher Education with the cooperation of Sultan Qaboos University and the sponsorship of AL-Buraimi College concerning applying national standards for the Foundation Year.
    The second lecture was presented by Dr. Abdelhadi AL-Khasawneh from the Business Dept in the college to shed the light on the quality assurance standards of the Higher Education Institutions. He indicated in his lecture that educational institutions should apply stable and specific standards in evaluating their performance to comply with the development dynamics that educational sectors are witnessing, and in accordance with the requirements of the job market in the coming stage, which he described as really challenging stage due to the information & economic revolution witnessed in the world now.
    On 6-3-2007 the College organized with the co-oporation of the US Embassy in Muscat an artistic presentation for Jazz conduced by Alven Atkinson and the Sound Merchants Band in the American Music Program supported by the US Dept of State, in which the Band played nice music of the American Jazz that the audience admired. 
     The playwright, Mr. Mohammed Abu AL-Abbas, made a presentation on the role of university drama in student's customs, skills, values and their methods of thinking. The presentation was attended by the dean of the college, Dr.Abdulla Hatem AL Ani and the Academic & Administrative staff, and a number of students
